Variable Deadrise V-hull

Our most recent hull designs are our variable deadrise (sometimes called warped vee ) hulls. These are the SeaRunner 210 and the SeaRunner 270 ( our commercial boats are known as the Osprey210 and the Osprey270).

These hulls have a decreasing deadrise angle along the waterline length towards the transom. They offer both great sea keeping and good load carrying capability compared to the constant deadrise hull form and less hump resistance when getting up on plane.
These hulls are generally operated at speeds in the 15 to 30 knot range but are quite stable at speeds up to 40 knots. Warped vee hulls tend towards a flat
ter trim, especially as boat speed increases. While a flatter trim often increases the wetted surface of the hull thereby increasing resistance and limiting boat speed, our hulls have incorporated lift strakes and chine flats to add lift and reduce resistance.

The ultimate performance of this type of hull, more than any other, is dependant on minor yet critical variations in the bottom shape. It is as much art as science. We first developed the Osprey210 hull and carried out extensive tests in all conditions before we were satisfied that we had indeed managed to produce an outstanding design. Only then did we proceed to move on to the Osprey270 model.
Both these models incorporate the best characteristics of our traditional boats while providing the benefits of a vee hull at higher speeds. The relatively sharp bow section cleanly slices through the waves without pounding. This results in an exceptionally dry ride, with the flared bow tossing aside the bow wave as the hull slips through the water. Although capable of excellent planing performance at higher speeds it doesn't compromise stability as a working platform,
After building over 50 of these hulls for the commercial fishery we were satisfied that this was an incredible hull that deserved to serve as a platform for a motoryacht. Thus we are now pleased to offer the SeaRunner 270 sedan cruiser and will soon be introducing the SeaRunner 270 express cruiser.
